Under the auspices of the University President, Prof. Dr. Jawdat Nouri Al-Jashamy, the Student Activities Department organized the mass mini-marathon running race for a distance of (2800 meters), in its fourth edition and with the participation of eight universities: University of Karbala, Al-Safwa University, Ahl Al-Bayt University, Al-Amal College, Al-Zahrawi College, Warith Al-Anbiyaa University, and Al-Taff College, in addition to the hosting university, The University of Alameed.
The marathon started from the beginning of the ring road (Karbala-Najaf road) and reached the finish line inside the campus of The University of Alameed, amidst a competitive atmosphere and distinguished student attendance. The event witnessed the honoring of the winners, as valuable financial prizes were awarded to the top three places, in addition to appreciation awards for the contestants who secured the top ten places.
The results saw the University of Karbala winning first place in the teams' category, followed by Ahl Al-Bayt University in second place, while Al-Taff College came in third place, and they were honored with financial prizes.
At the conclusion of the event, the Assistant to the University President for Administrative and Legal Affairs, Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Kareem Abdul Raheem, honored the participating universities in appreciation of their efforts in making this sporting event a success, which reflects the spirit of cooperation and cohesion among academic institutions and encourages students to practice physical activities.
For his part, the Head of the Student Activities Department, Dr. Hussein Hakim, explained that the university's fourth marathon aims to enhance the culture of sports and physical activity among students and promote concepts of health and safety, as well as support sustainable development goals by involving students from the university and other universities in the holy governorate of Karbala in a sports event that contributes to consolidating the spirit of cooperation and positive competition among them.
